If you want to simulate dice rolls in a forum post for whatever reason, you can... [roll]1d4[/roll] = (1d4)[3]

(if you do not hit preview post and just post the bolded text, it will simulate a roll and post the result in a databse. You cannot add rolls to existing posts: they are only evaluated at initial post, so you cannot go back and change rolls)
